1.      Region IV Scholarships and Apple Grant 4 Kids:

·         Postmark Deadline: February 28, 2010

·         Applications are on Region 4 ATPE website: http://www.atperegion4.org/

2.      Convention Rebates for Local Units:

·         Each year Region 4 ATPE provides a rebate to each local based on the number of voting delegates.  Non-voting delegates and guests of a local will not be included in determining the rebate amount.

·         The rebate amount for the 2010 Convention will be as follows:

§  $300 for the 1^st person plus $100 for each additional voting delegate up to a maximum rebate of $1,700 (15 voting delegates)

·         In order to receive the rebate, all voting delegates must be in attendance and sign in at the following events:

§  Friday, March 26 – 1:45-3:45 PM                                 House of Delegates

§  Saturday, March 27 – 8:00 – 9:30 AM                          Region Caucuses

§  Saturday, March 27 – 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM                 House of Delegates

(Any voting delegates who do not sign in and attend all three events will not be included in the count for the local rebate.)

·         Rebate checks will be mailed to presidents after convention and will need to be deposited within 90 days.

3.      Region Caucus Door Prize:

·         As you arrive to our meeting room, you will be given a door prize ticket.

·         This year we are having “Early Bird Specials.”  That means, we will start door prizes at 7:45 a.m., 7:50 a.m., and at 7:55 a.m.

·         At 8 a.m. we will stop passing out door prize tickets; so please be on time.

·         Then at 8 a.m. we will have a special door prize of an ATPE rolling luggage cart.  After that, we will do the grand prize drawing.  All locals who have all voting delegates in attendance by 8:00 AM will be entered in a door prize for $300 (This prize is in addition to any rebate amount due to the winning local!).

·         So, local Presidents remind your delegates to be up and ready to go early on Saturday!

§  Food and beverages will not be available during this meeting. (You may bring it with you.)

§  Attendees will need to check out of their hotels prior to attending the Saturday events. Hotels will hold luggage for those needing this service.

§  Plan ahead for breakfast and check-out to make the 8 a.m. start time for the Region Caucus.

4.      Convention Registration and Certification of Delegates:

·         February 24, 2010, is the deadline for certifying delegates, for preregistering for convention at a reduced rate and for reserving a hotel room at a discounted rate.  You should have received a registration packet in the mail from the state office.  If you want to be a voting delegate, register by February 24.

5.      PAC Auctions:

·         PAC will have its annual auction to raise funds. Each region has been asked to contribute items for the auction.  If any local has an item they would like to donate, please let Ron Fitzwater or Ann Petrillo know ASAP so we can let the state office know.  Remember dues money may not be used for PAC contributions, so you may not purchase items out of your ATPE budget.  You may choose to donate an item in the name of your local, the name of the region, or yourself.  The region will have an item and will pass the hat at the region caucus to cover the cost.  Any amount over the purchase price will be donated to PAC.
